Don't Worry!
It's Not as Hard as You THINK!
You WILL succeed at 'source usage'! Don't let your past experiences with sources frighten you away from learning how to properly cite sources used in your work.
Can you follow a recipe? Have you learned how to drive? Can you tie your shoes?
Following a recipe, driving, and tying shoes all relate to using sources in one word: PATTERN.
To master source usage, you simply need to learn the pattern. Just like you opening that cookbook and beginning to duplicate a custard recipe, properly incorporating sources, citing sources in-text, and crafting full source citations in a references page can easily be mastered when you learn the pattern. You do not have to memorize all of the steps, but you do need to know where to find the steps so that you can follow the pattern. Once you understand where to find the pattern and where to use it, you will be a success in source usage!!
